Vandalur Zoo

This weekend my niece came over here to chennai and we planned to take her to vandalur zoo. Had a good time the entire day watching her activities.Once in a while its good to have a trip like this.

Wild life continued

One thing which I learned from this trip 4x optical zoom & 7.3-29.2mm lens is not
good enough to zoom long distance. Guess I need to get a digital SLR soon.

A intresting story from the movie---->Apocalypto

I was not able do much on photography this week as it was raining most of the time. After a long time had some time to watch a movie. Apocalyto was a totally different movie from Mel Gibson. A small story narrated by a old man to his tribal group really impressed me check this out.

A man sat alone drencehed deep in sadness. And all animals drew near to him and said: "We do not like to see you so sad... Ask us for whatever you wish and you shall have it."

The man said: "I want to have good sight". The vulture replied you shall have mine. The man said I want to be strong. The jaguar said:"you shall be strong like me" Then the man said:"I long to know
the secrets of the earth." The serpent relied:"I will show them to you." And so it went with all the animals. And when the man had all the gifts that they could give...he left. Then the owl said to the other animals:"Now the Man knows much and is able to do many things suddenly I am afraid." The deer said:"The Man has all that he needs now his sadness will stop." But the
owl replied:"No,I saw a hole in the Man..Deep like a hunger he will never fill,It is what makes him sad and what makes him want.He wil go on taking and taking until one day the World will say:"I am no more and I have nothing left to give."

The most creative controls that affects the exposure.

Aperture
Aperture controls the brighness of that light. smaller aperture for maximum depth of field. Everything from near foreground to distant backround is sharp. aperture gets smaller as f/1, f/1.4, f/2.8, f/4, .... f/32. The above picture has a larger aperture so tha subect is sharp and the background is faded.
Shutter speed

Shutter speed controls the length of time the image sensor is exposed to light. To capture a wind mill movement have a slow shutter speed. shutter speed increases as 2, 1 ,1/2, 1/4, 1/8 ,1/15, 1/30, .... 1/2000

Will try these settings this week end. These pictures were from canon digital slr manual.

My first snap with canon A620

I was expecting a digital SLR camera from my friend and it turned out to be a normal digicam canon powershot a620 model. My friend convinced me saying this model has settings to change shutter speed and aperture which should be fair enough for a rookie.Ranjit let me know how these pictures are?
